Infection Control

The spread of infection has been highlighted as a concern more recently. this makes effective infection control training vital for all care related employees. The main aim of infection control training is to highlight the importance of infection prevention procedures, whilst ensuring staff teams are aware of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs).

Learners will build their understanding of how HCAIs can spread, and their duty of care as a care professional in infection prevention. The course includes;

  • How infection is caused and can be spread

  • The ‘chain of infection’ and the importance of recognising Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and the purpose/principles of infection control procedures

  • Personal hygiene at work including handwashing

  • Personal protective equipment.

  • Maintaining a clean environment including roles and responsibilities in the decontamination/sterilisation process

  • Handling laundry and ensuring effective waste and sharps management.

  • Approximate duration: 3.5 hours
