Diabetes Awareness

The aim of this course is to provide understanding of the signs and symptoms of problems in diabetes and the action that needs to be taken in relation to caring for a person with diabetes. You will look at myths associated with diabetes, first aid actions that may be needed and long term conditions which can be an additional outcome of diabetes.

Once completed you will be able to describe the signs, symptoms and appropriate action to take for: hypos and hypers. You will understand the body’s use of hormones, the relationship between diabetes and pressure ulcers and be more familiar with the types of medication you could come across when caring for others.

This course takes 3.5 hours to complete and is delivered in your setting at a time to suit your needs.
